Our Beliefs

We Worship the Triune God

We believe there is One God who exists eternally as three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. All three Persons are equal in power and glory.

The Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ Is Our Hope

We believe that life is a gift from God, to be lived for God. Sin is the common problem of all humans, who have rejected God’s rule over their lives. Sin’s power and penalty are only overcome through the work of Jesus Christ, God’s Son, who died and was resurrected. All who have faith in Jesus are graciously given new life. This new life is lived in the power of God’s Holy Spirit, who is transforming us and preparing us for Christ’s eternal kingdom. We believe that Jesus will come again to judge the world, bringing justice. We look for his coming in the hope of resurrection and glory.

The Bible Is Our Authority

We believe the Bible is God’s Word. As such, it is our ultimate authority, and we submit ourselves to its teaching. Our life together as a church is marked by a deep commitment to hearing from God’s Word. We believe that the Bible guides our lives and contains everything necessary for our salvation.

We Stand In the Anglican Tradition

We are an Anglican Church in the evangelical and reformed tradition. More details of our beliefs concerning doctrine and worship can be found in the Anglican formularies (i.e., the Thirty-Nine Articles of Religion, the Book of Common Prayer, and the Ordinal).

St Matthias Is a Church for All Ages, Stages, and Backgrounds

We believe that the church is the people God has gathered to worship Him and hear His Word. We are glad to incorporate people from all different cultural backgrounds, across all ages and stages. Our unity amidst our diversity is in the gospel we profess, having one Lord, one faith, one baptism.
